STORY LINE
After being hit by lightning, Barry Allen develops the incredible ability known as the Speed Force. General Zod has returned and a world without heroes has been created when he uses this power to go back in time and save his mother. The only people who can stop him are a retired Batman, another Barry, and a kryptonian who is being held captive.
Its narrative, which follows The Flash, alias Barry Allen, on a personal journey with profound philosophical consequences, is largely responsible for this split. When we first meet Barry, he is dissatisfied with his status as a superhero since he has effectively been relegated to the role of "the caretaker of the Justice League" and is responsible for tidying up Batman's (Ben Affleck) problems. His inability to establish his father's (Ron Livingston) innocence of his mother's death (Maribel Verd) also hurts him. He therefore exploits his abilities to go back in time, as Cher would say. But in the process, the space-time continuum is disrupted, causing Barry to run across a younger version of himself who hasn't gone through any of the same loss or gone through any of the

Thankfully, screenwriter Christina Hodson, who also penned the DC comic book series Birds of Prey, is able to wring some compassion from this meta-human. After all, this is a narrative about the grieving process and a literalization of the idea of inner child healing. Barry discovers who he would have been in the absence of the personal suffering and naturally begins to detest this happier, less troubled version of himself. Miller regularly achieves the ideal balance with these two, occasionally antagonistic performances - an improvement for a character whose main distinguishing characteristic was "irritable". When you can really hear it above the sounds of explosions and checks being paid, it's a result of the good writing here.
